No. 1 Lakers Roll Past Oilers 35-7

The University of Findlay football team dropped a 35-7 decision to top ranked Grand Valley State University on Saturday, September 25 at Donnell Stadium. The loss gives the Oilers a 1-3 record on the season with a 1-2 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Lakers went up by a score of 28-0 at the break thanks to 21 second quarter points and tacked on another touchdown in the third period to take a 35-0 lead. The Oilers would then add an 11-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Zach Tate to senior wide receiver Dustin Zielaskiewicz with 14:21 remaining in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.

Sophomore running back Monterae Williams led the offense with 126 yards on 21 carries while Zielaskiewicz hauled in five receptions for 84 yards and the score.

Defensively, freshman linebacker Kenny Klatt led the squad with 13 tackles while freshman defensive back Kalon Willis chipped in eight.

The Oilers will be back in action again next Saturday when they host the University of Indianapolis on Homecoming at 4:00 p.m.
