AUBURN, Ala. (Sports Network) - Wes Byrum made a 39-yard field goal to put the home team ahead and Chandler Catanzaro missed a 32-yard attempt to give No. 16 Auburn a 27-24 overtime victory at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Cameron Newton threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns for Auburn (3-0), which faces South Carolina next Saturday.
Onterio McCalebb rushed for 81 yards and a score on 10 carries while Darvin Adams and Terrell Zachery registered a TD catch.
Kyle Parker completed 21-of-35 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns for Clemson (2-1), which is off until an October 2 meeting with Miami-Florida.
Jamie Harper added a pair of TD receptions and Andre Ellington had 140 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries in the setback.
Byrum made a 39-yard field goal to cap Auburn's first drive of overtime, then an illegal procedure call on Clemson pushed a potential game-tying 27-yard field goal from Catanzaro back five yards.
Catanzaro then pulled his next attempt wide left and Auburn emerged victorious.
It was all Clemson early on as Harper hauled in an eight-yard pass from Parker for the lone score of the first quarter. The visiting Tigers went up 17-0 after a Catanzaro 42-yard boot and a 24-yard connection from Parker to Harper.
Auburn finally got on the board on the final play of the first half as Byrum was good from 35 yards out.
The home Tigers seized momentum in the third quarter, tallying 21 points to take the lead.
McCalebb rumbled in from 12 yards out, Adams caught an eight-yard TD pass and Zachery raced 78 yards to the end zone off a Newton offering and Auburn led 24-17 after three quarters.
Ellington's two-yard march to the end zone early in the fourth quarter knotted the game.
