SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Senior quarterback Kevin Clancy completed 15-of-26 passes for 246 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to lead Shepherd University to a 55-0 win over St. Joseph’s (IN) College at Ram Stadium on Saturday.
Shepherd took a 7-0 lead on the opening drive when teamed with senior tight end Dominique Jones (San Diego, CA/Horizon/Liberty) on a two-yard scoring pass. Junior kicker Eric Dobratz (Woodbridge, VA/Potomac) added the extra point.
The Rams upped their lead to 14-0 with 4:19 left in the when junior running back Tommy Addison (Germantown, MD/Quince Orchard) scored on a four-yard scamper.
The Rams took a 21-0 lead when Clancy teamed with senior wide receiver Scot Riddell (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) on a 47-yard scoring strike with 7:24 left in the second quarter.
Shepherd took a 28-0 advantage when Clancy teamed with Jones on a 6-yard scoring pass with 2:45 left in the half.
The Rams took a 35-0 lead in the half when Clancy connected with senior running back Jimmy Sutch (Hagerstown, MD/St. James) on a 26-yard scoring pass.
Addison scored on 10-yard run with two seconds left in the third quarter to give the Rams a 42-0 advantage.
Sutch scored his second touchdown of the day on a seven-yard run to increase the lead to 49-0 with 9:22 left in the fourth quarter.
Redshirt-freshman running back Michael Haynes (Midlothian, VA/Cloverhill) scored his first collegiate touchdown on a four-yard dash for the game’s final score with 1:08 remaining.
Junior wide receiver Robert Byrd (Alexandria, VA/Troy) had five catches for 87 yards to lead the Ram receiving corps. Jake McFadden had two receptions for 59 yards to pace the Pumas.
Addison had 15 carries for 135 yards to lead the Shepherd ground game. Haynes added 55 yards on 12 carries. Garrick Hall had 22 yards on 14 carries to lead St. Joseph’s.
Senior linebacker Brian Taylor (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) led the Rams with 10 tackles, while sophomore linebacker Leons Kabongo (Woodbridge, VA/Gar-Field) added nine stops. Sophomore cornerback Keon Robinson (Fairfax Station, VA/Lake Braddock) led the secondary with a pair of interceptions. Ben Gomes had a game-high 12 tackles to lead the Pumas.
Shepherd (2-0) amassed 504 yards of total offense while holding St. Joseph’s (0-3) to just 121. The Rams allowed only 17 rushing yards.
The Rams return to action next Saturday when they host Fairmont State for Hall Of Fame Weekend. Kickoff will be at noon.
