• In his Auburn debut, Newton rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while completing 9-of-14 passes for 186 and three scores in Auburn’s 52-26 win against Arkansas State.

• Newton accounted for 357 total offensive yards and five touchdowns, both highs in the SEC in Week One.

• His 171 rushing yards were a school single-game rushing record by a quarterback, breaking the previous mark of 160 held by Phil Gargis in 1974.

• The rushing total were the most in a debut by an Auburn player since Rudi Johnson’s 174 rushing yards against Wyoming in 2000.

• Trevathan had a game-high 11 total tackles, including nine solo stops, in Kentucky’s 23-16 win at Louisville.

• His 11 tackle total was tied for the second-highest in the SEC in Week One.

• Included in his total were a career-high 3.5 tackles for losses accounting for six yards.

• The Wildcat defense limited Louisville to 102 yards of total offense in the first half, while taking a 20-6 halftime lead.

• Peterson set an LSU record with a combined 257 combined yards on kickoff and punt return yards in the Tigers’ 30-24 win against North Carolina.

• The game marked Peterson’s first as the Tigers’ primary return specialist.

• The 257 yards ranks as the second-highest total in SEC history.

• Peterson returned a punt 87 yards for a TD in the second quarter to give LSU a 23-10 lead. It’s the sixth longest punt return in LSU history.

• He added five tackles in the game.

• Johnson was awarded a game ball by the South Carolina coaching staff following the Gamecocks’ 41-13 win over Southern Miss.

• He was making his first start at center after playing exclusively at right guard in 2009.

• The Gamecock offensive line allowed Carolina to produce 449 yards of total offense - 224 on the ground and 225 through the air - averaging 6.9 yards per play.

• Howard accounted for five total tackles (three solo stops) including 2.5 sacks in Florida’s 34-12 win against Miami (Ohio).

• Howard anchored a defensive line that allowed just four yards rushing on 22 carries. The longest rushing gain from scrimmage for Miami was 9 yards.

• The 2.5 sacks were for a total loss of 17 yards and was the first multi-sack performance of Howard’s career.

• Russell completed 13-of-16 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns in Mississippi State’s 49-7 win against Memphis.

• The four TD passes tied a school single-game record.

• In his first series, Russell led the Bulldog offense on a seven-play, 91-yard drive for a touchdown.

• He started the second half completing six straight passes for 109 yards and two TDs as State opened up a 42-0 lead midway through the third quarter.

OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES FROM WEEK ONE

WR JULIO JONES (Alabama) -- Totaled six receptions for 93 yards and a score and added one rush for 13 yards against San Jose State.

RB EDDIE LACY (Alabama) -- Led Alabama with 111 rushing yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns against San Jose State.

QB RYAN MALLETT (Arkansas) -- Completed 21-of-24 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns against Tennessee Tech.

ANTHONY LEON (Arkansas) -- Led Arkansas with eight tackles, two sacks and four tackles for loss against Tennessee Tech.

RB MICHAEL DYER (Auburn) -- Rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries and also had one reception for nine yards against Arkansas State.

DB JANORIS JENKINS (Florida) -- Had five tackles, three pass deflections and returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown against Miami (Ohio).

QB AARON MURRAY (Georgia) -- Completed 17-of-26 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns against Louisiana-Lafayette.

OL CLINT BOLING (Georgia) -- Did not allow a sack against Louisiana-Lafayette.

OG LARRY WARFORD (Kentucky) -- Did not allow a sack and had four knockdown blocks against Louisville.

CB TYRANN MATHIEU (LSU) -- In his first college game, tallied 9 tackles, including a sack for -19 yards, against North Carolina.

RB BRANDON BOLDEN (Ole Miss) -- Rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries and a TD against Jacksonville State.

DB MAURICE LANGSTON (Miss. State) -- Had a tackle and two interceptions against Memphis.

QB STEPHEN GARCIA (South Carolina) -- Completed 16-of-23 passes for 193 yards and had five rushes for 38 yards and 2 TDs against Southern Miss.

WR DENARIUS MOORE (Tennessee) -- Accounted for 124 all-purpose yards with four catches for 66 yards and a 58-yard touchdown run against UT-Martin.

DB PRENTISS WAGGNER (Tennessee) -- Had a 54-yard interception return for a touchdown and six tackles against UT-Martin.

CB EDDIE FOSTER (Vanderbilt) -- Had career-high 8 tackles, including three for losses, against Northwestern.
