PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sports Network) - Temple University announced on Monday that it has renewed a football rivalry with Rutgers University for four games starting in 2015.
Under the terms of the agreement, Temple will host Rutgers in Philadelphia in
2016 and 2018, while the game will take place in New Jersey in 2015 and 2017.
"We are very excited to renew the series with Rutgers," said Temple head
football coach Al Golden. "It is a great game for our fans as it renews a
regional rivalry and also allows for friends and family of Owl Nation to
support the Cherry and White on the road."
The schools have not met since 2004, when both were still members of the Big
East Conference. Since the first meeting in 1948, Rutgers won 19 of the 35
matchups. From the time the Big East football conference began play in 1991,
the Scarlet Knights won nine of 14 tilts over the Owls.
