NEW YORK (Sports Network) - The Pac-10 Conference will officially undergo a name change once two new schools join the grouping.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, as conference commissioner Larry Scott
unveiled new branding for the Pac-10 beginning this upcoming season.
Scott confirmed that the Pac-10 will become the Pac-12 for the 2011-12 season,
once both the University of Colorado and the University of Utah are welcomed
to the fold.
This will be the first time since 1978 that the conference will see a
different moniker, as in that year Arizona and Arizona State joined what was
then the Pac-8.
