LOS ANGELES - Fourteen high school football players and one junior college player signed letters of intent with USC, new Trojan head coach Lane Kiffin announced today.
Additionally, RB Dillon Baxter of Mission Bay HS in San Diego, Calif., DB Patrick Hall of St. Bonaventure HS in Ventura, Calif., and WR Kyle Prater of Proviso West HS in Hillside, Ill., already enrolled at USC in January as freshmen and will participate in the upcoming spring practice. Hall originally signed with USC in 2009, but did not qualify for admission.
Kiffin noted that several other signings could be announced soon.
This fall's incoming freshmen are: WR Markeith Ambles of Henry County HS in McDonough, Ga.; DB Dion Bailey of Lakewood (Calif.) HS; DB Anthony Brown of Kaiser HS in Fontana, Calif.; OL Giovanni Di Poalo of St. Bonaventure HS in Ventura, Calif.; TE Xavier Grimble of Bishop Gorman HS in Las Vegas, Nev.; RB D.J. Morgan of Taft HS in Woodland Hills, Calif.; LB Hayes Pullard of Crenshaw HS in Los Angeles, Calif.; DB Nickell Robey of Frostproof (Fla.) HS; QB Jesse Scroggins of Lakewood (Calif.) HS; TE Randall Telfer of Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) HS; TE Christian Thomas of Highland HS in Palmdale, Calif.; DT George Uko of Don Lugo HS in Chino, Calif.; WR Robert Woods of Serra HS in Gardena, Calif.; and DB Demetrius Wright of Corona (Calif.) HS.
The junior college transfer who will be joining USC is LB Glen Stanley of Eastern Arizona JC in Thatcher, Ariz., who will be a junior.
"Obviously, it was a great day for the Trojan Family," said Kiffin. "I'm extremely proud of the work done by our staff and everyone involved. To be here for just a couple weeks and to be able to sign so many of the top-ranked high school players in the country speaks volumes about the past and the future of the USC football program.
"Our goal is not to sign a lot of players just to fill spots on the roster. Our goal is to sign players who can compete at the highest level. As you can see, the size of our signing class might be smaller than a lot of programs, but we feel the quality of the players we signed is of the highest level.
"Now it is time to turn to the developmental stage for these players. It'll be very exciting this fall to add this great group of players to our current roster." # # #
