BOONE, N.C. — Fifteen student-athletes — 12 high-school seniors and three junior-college transfers — signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday to join Appalachian State University’s football program in 2010.

Quarterback Elijah Adamiak (Carroll, Ga./Central), tight end Drew Bailey (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman), offensive lineman Ian Barnard (Norcross, Ga./Wesleyan School), quarterback Kalik Barnes (Atlanta, Ga./Parkview), offensive lineman Dylan Bostick (Neptune Beach, Fla./Fletcher), defensive lineman William Corbin (Dunn, N.C./Triton), tight end Antonio Danzy (Sandersville, Ga./Washington County/Georgia Military College), offensive lineman Graham Fisher (Waynesville, N.C./Tuscola), offensive lineman Kalan Jones (Cornelia, Ga./Habersham Central), offensive lineman Kendall Lamm (Charlotte, N.C./Butler), defensive back Tevin McDermott (Athens, Tenn./McMinn), linebacker A.J. McDonald (Suwannee, Ga./Peachtree Ridge), tight end Trevor Sawyer (Asheville, N.C./Asheville), defensive lineman Derrick Shuemake (Swainsboro, Ga./Swainsboro/Georgia Military College) and defensive lineman Dan Wylie (Washington, Ga./Washington-Wilkes/Georgia Military College) will all join Appalachian’s football program for the 2010 season.

The 15 signees — which includes seven players with star ratings from Rivals.com — brings Appalachian’s crop of newcomers for 2010 to 16, including defensive lineman Chris Aiken (Austin, Texas/Reagan/Blinn College), who signed an NLI and enrolled at ASU last month. The group will bolster the Mountaineers in the trenches, with 12 of the 16 playing on the offensive line (five), defensive line (four) or tight end (three).

“This is an exceptional class of newcomers and we couldn’t be more pleased to have all 16 join our program,” head coach Jerry Moore said. “Perhaps the thing that excites me the most is the eagerness that this group has displayed to take ownership of their team as soon as possible. We’re looking forward to them doing so beginning this summer.”
