FSU Expected to Hire Pruitt as Defensive Coordinator

Florida State is expected to fill its vacant defensive coordinator spot by bringing in Alabama defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt.

Pruitt, who has coached the last two seasons under Nick Saban for the Crimson Tide, will fill the void left by former coordinator Mark Stoops, who departed to become the head coach at Kentucky following FSU's ACC Championship victory over Georgia Tech on Dec. 1. The new coach brings with him a sterling reputation as a recruiter, but it will be his first time as a defensive coordinator.

Florida State, which finished the season with an 11-2 record and a conference title, is set to face Northern Illinois in the Discover Orange Bowl on New Years Day. Under the leadership of Stoops, the Seminoles improved from one of the worst defensive units in the FBS to one of the best, finishing in the top-five nationally in total defense in each of the past two seasons.
