COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Robbie Rouse (Fresno State), Travis Brown (Fresno State) and Jared Roberts (Colorado State) are the Mountain West Players of the Week for games through Nov. 10. Rouse earns Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Brown garners the Defensive Player award and Roberts receives Special Teams recognition. This marks the second career MW weekly accolade for both Rouse and Roberts, while Brown collects his first.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ROBBIE ROUSE, FRESNO STATE
Senior, Running Back, San Diego, Calif./Madison HS
Senior running back Robbie Rouse rushed for a season-high 261 yards on 36 carries and two touchdowns in Fresno State’s 52-36 win at Nevada. Rouse averaged 7.2 yards per carry, had a long run of 42 yards and recorded six carries of 10 yards or more. Of his 261 rushing yards,174 and both touchdowns came in the second half. His biggest play in the game came with just under six minutes remaining in the third quarter when he broke five tackles en route to a 39-yard touchdown run that gave the Bulldogs a 44-21 lead. Rouse’s 261 yards are the third-most in school history and mark the second-highest rushing performance in the MW this year.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TRAVIS BROWN, FRESNO STATE
Senior, Linebacker, Fresno, Calif./Clovis West HS
Senior linebacker Travis Brown tied his season-high with nine tackles to help lead Fresno State to a 52-36 road victory at Nevada. Brown created one of Fresno State’s four takeaways and scored one of three defensive touchdowns for the Bulldogs. With 8:45 to go in the third quarter, Brown stopped Nevada running back Stefphon Jefferson for a one-yard gain and stripped Jefferson of the football. The ball bounced into Brown’s arms and he dashed 26 yards for the touchdown. His play gave Fresno State a 38-21 lead. The Bulldogs forced Nevada into turnovers on each of its first three possessions of the second half, helping to break a 21-21 halftime tie. Brown and the Bulldogs held Jefferson, who came into the contest as the nation’s leading rusher, to just 95 yards on the ground. Eight of Brown’s nine tackles were solo efforts and he also had one pass breakup in the game.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JARED ROBERTS, COLORADO STATE
Sophomore, Kicker, Littleton, Colo./Mullen HS
Sophomore Jared Roberts connected on two field goals and three PATS as Colorado State defeated UNLV, 33-11, on Saturday. In windy and freezing conditions, Roberts extended the Rams' lead to 24-0 at the end of the first half when he connected on a 49-yard field goal. He followed that kick with a 32-yarder in the third quarter that put CSU up 27-0. The 49-yarder is the longest field goal by a Ram since Jason Smith hit a 52-yarder at Utah on Oct. 18, 2008. It is also tied as the longest field goal in the MW this season.
