GLASSBORO, N.J. – Quarterback Louie Bianchini threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Rowan University football team to a 47-0 win over Morrisville State College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday. It was the Profs’ Homecoming game.
Rowan improves to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Morrisville State has a 1-7 record with a 1-5 NJAC mark. Bianchini (sr. West Long Branch, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) completed 14 of 19 passes. He also rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown on four carries. Wide receiver Ed Eisenhart (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made four receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Wideout Warren Oliver (jr. Beverly, NJ/Palymyra) hauled in four balls for 38 yards and one touchdown. Running back Withler Marcelin (fr. Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp.) ran for 92 yards and one touchdown on 12 attempts. Running back Keith Corcoran (sr. Atlantic City, NJ/St. Joseph (Hammonton)) added 54 yards and one touchdown on eight runs.
Cornerback Steve Fortune (sr. Bridgeton, NJ/Bridgeton) and linebacker Anthony Townsend (so. Camden, NJ/Camden Catholic) registered eight tackles (four solo, four assisted) apiece. Fortune also forced a fumble. Linebacker Evan Picariello (sr. East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) totaled seven tackles (three solo, four assisted) and one sack (-4 yards). Defensive end Josh Popper (so. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) contributed with five stops (one solo, four assisted), 1.5 tackles for a loss (-8 yards) and one sack (-7 yards). Linebacker Patrick Ruley (sr. Margate, NJ/Atlantic City) intercepted two passes, while cornerbacks Frank Rubino (sr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) and Mookie Holland (so. Millville, NJ/Millville) each had one pick.
For Morrisville State, quarterback Jory Tanner (fr. Adams, NY/South Jefferson) threw for 61 yards with nine completions in 21 attempts before leaving the game with an injury. Quarterback Mychael Hardamo (sr. Roosevelt, NY/Roosevelt) completed four of 10 passes for 36 yards. Running back Earl Snead (so. Wappinger Falls, NY/Ketcham) compiled 109 yards on 14 rushes. Wide receiver Robert Clarke (so. New York, NY/Douglas Academy) made five catches for 49 yards.
Safeties Austin Erlwein (jr. Jefferson, NY/Jefferson-Youngsville) and Kasheim Jones (fr. Syracuse, NY/Central Tech) and linebackers Tyler Meyers (fr. Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) and Brian Doyle (jr. Syracuse, NY/Fowler High) all had seven tackles. Cornerback Freddie Gaetan (so. Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) forced a fumble.
The Profs took a 7-0 lead on Eisenhart’s 28 yard touchdown catch at 8:49 in the first quarter. In the drive, Bianchini completed five of six passes for 88 yards. At 7:49, Holland intercepted a pass and returned it to the Mustangs’ five yard line. Corcoran carried the ball into the end zone on the first play from scrimmage to make the score, 13-0 following a missed PAT.
At 14:03 in the second, Bianchini had a five yard touchdown run. The extra point was wide right. Rowan took over on its own 29 yard line following an interception by Ruley. Bianchini carried the ball three times for 62 yards. Marcelin’s one yard touchdown run at 11:02 extended the advantage to 26-0. Wide receiver Dan Reed (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) recorded a 48 yard reception in the five play 74 yard drive. With 1:55 remaining, Oliver hauled in a 12 yard touchdown grab to make the score, 33-0 at the intermission. Bianchini was five for seven for 52 yards.
At 12:58 in the third stanza, Eisenhart’s second touchdown came on a 46 yard pass. Running back Michael Weber (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) ran three times for 17 yards prior to the touchdown. Offensive lineman Felix Wurmbach (so. Pilesgrove, NJ/Woodstown) recovered a fumble in the end zone for the final score. Marcelin totaled 43 yards on four carries.
Rowan hosts Kean University in a NJAC game on Saturday, November 3 at 1 p.m.
