Alabama Strengthens Hold On Number One Spot In Both Polls

Associated Press Poll

USA Today Poll

Alabama remains the top-ranked team in the country, in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls. In fact, the Crimson Tide are now the unanimous choice as the top team in the AP poll. Alabama received all 60 first place voted from the AP voters, who ranked Oregon second and Florida State third.

For the second straight week, LSU lost a spot in the AP poll. The Tigers struggled to beat FCS foe Towson on Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

Five of the Top 10 teams in the AP poll are from the Southeastern Conference. Following Alabama (No. 1) and LSU (No. 4) are No. 5 Georgia, sixth-ranked South Carolina and No. 10 Florida.

In the USA Today poll, Alabama received 57-of-59 first place votes, with the other two votes going to LSU and Florida State. Oregon is second in the coaches poll, followed by LSU, Florida State and Georgia.

Four new teams entered the USA Today poll this week. Northwestern is 22nd, Cincinnati is 23rd, Texas Tech is 24th and Boise State is 25th.
