GLASSBORO, N.J. – Running back Keith Corcoran rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead Rowan University over The College at Brockport, 17-3 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The Golden Eagles have a 3-2 record with a 1-2 NJAC mark. Corcoran (sr. Atlantic City, NJ/St. Joseph (Hammonton)) had 28 runs for a 4.0 average. Quarterback Louie Bianchini (sr. West Long Branch, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) completed 20 of 33 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Ed Eisenhart (so. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) made five catches for 51 yards and a touchdown. Running back Withler Marcelin (fr. Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp.) contributed with four grabs for 56 yards. Kicker Mike Burke (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) converted two PATs (two attempts) and nailed a 32 yard field goal.
Linebacker Patrick Ruley (sr. Margate, NJ/Atlantic City) totaled a game-high 15 tackles (seven solo, eight assisted). Linebacker Darren Dungee (fr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) posted 13 stops (six solo, seven assisted). Safety Kurt Kingett (so. Sewell, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) and linebacker Dominic Caruso (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) tallied eight tackles apiece. Defensive end Steve Williams (sr. Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) and cornerback Frank Ruopoli (jr. Jamesburg, NJ/Monroe Twp.) both had one interception.
For Brockport, quarterback Joe Scibilia (sr. North Tonawanda, NY/Starpoint) threw for 287 yards with 32 completions in 51 attempts. Wide receiver Jake Spalik (jr. Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) hauled in nine passes for 68 yards. Wideout Joseph Innes (sr. Unadilla, NY/Unatego) chipped in with seven receptions for 82 yards, while wide receiver Eric Malave (fr. Brooklyn, NY/Canarsi) had 43 yards on six catches. Wideout Andrew Mrozek (so. Depew, NY/Lancaster) posted 74 yards with four grabs. Running backs Tyrone Nichols (so. Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) and Shireem Cobb (so. Valley Stream, NY/Sewanhaka) ran for 54 (16 carries) and 45 yards (six rushes) respectively. Kicker EJ Genzano (sr. Albany, NY/Guilderland) made a 31 yard field goal.
Safety Anthony Bianchi (jr. Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) compiled 12 tackles (four solo, eight assisted) and one interception. Linebackers Derek DeCandia (sr. Beacon, NY/Beacon) and
John O’Hagan (jr. Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) had 10 stops apiece. DeCandia added one tackle for a loss (-3 yards). Linebacker Brett Evensen (so. Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) collected eight tackles (three solo, five assisted). Defensive end Camden Palmeter (so. Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) forced a fumble and defensive lineman Jeff Scialo (fr. Bellmore, NY/Bellmore-JFK) recovered it.
After a scoreless first quarter, Rowan went ahead, 3-0 on a 32 yard field goal by Burke at 12:36 in the second. It was a 16 play, 65 yards drive. Corcoran carried the ball six times for 25 yards. Bianchini had four completions (six attempts) for 33 yards. Brockport tied the game (3-3) on a 31 yard field goal by Genzano with four seconds remaining. The Golden Eagles took over on the Profs’ 40 yard line after Scialo recovered a fumble that was forced by Palmeter. Prior to the kick, Scibilia threw for 17 yards with three completions in four attempts. He also rushed for 10 yards on three touches.
With 1:28 left in the third period, Corcoran found the end zone with a two yard touchdown run to give the Profs a 10-3 lead. Rowan started on its own 33 yard line. Bianchini tallied 47 yards passing with three completions in six attempts. Running back Michael Weber (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) added two rushes for 15 yards. At 14:53, Williams intercepted a screen pass to give the Profs the ball on the Golden Eagles’ 28 yard line. On the first play of the drive, Eisenhart made a 28 yard touchdown reception at 14:45.
