ARLINGTON, Texas (Sports Network) - LSU and TCU will kick off the 2013 college football season when the two nationally ranked programs oppose one another in the fifth edition of the "Cowboys Classic" held at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The contest will take place on August 31, 2013 and features schools that have previously recorded victories in the Cowboys Classic, with LSU posting a 40-27 win over Oregon in 2011 and TCU claiming a 30-21 decision over Oregon State in 2010.

The Horned Frogs also defeated BYU in a 2011 regular-season clash held at Cowboys Stadium, while LSU downed Texas A&M at the venue during the 2011 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.

The game, which will be broadcast nationally on either ABC or ESPN, will mark the first meeting between LSU and TCU since 1968.
