TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Sports Network) - AJ McCarron spearheaded another dominant Alabama performance, throwing three touchdown passes as the top-ranked Crimson Tide pounded the Florida Atlantic Owls, 40-7, on Saturday.
McCarron finished with 212 yards on 15-of-25 efficiency for Alabama (4-0).
The Crimson Tide produced points on each of their first seven drives while limiting the Owls (1-3) to six first downs and 110 yards of total offense.
Florida Atlantic quarterback Graham Wilbert attempted only 13 passes, completing seven of them for 34 yards. He threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Alex Deleon to spoil Alabama's bid for a third consecutive shutout with 2:49 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Crimson Tide started fast as McCarron and Kenny Bell hooked up for an 85- yard touchdown on the third play of the game.
DeAndrew White then caught a 4-yard touchdown pass before Cade Foster drilled a 52-yard field goal 11 seconds into the second quarter.
Jeremy Shelley connected on a pair of field goals and Christion Jones caught a 4-yard TD pass to give Alabama a commanding 30-0 halftime lead.
A 46-yard Foster field goal accounted for all the scoring in the third quarter. Kenyan Drake added an 8-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
