Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma State), Michael Hodges (Texas A&M) and Coryell Judie (Texas A&M) have been named Big 12 Conference Football Players of the Week, as selected by a media panel. Weeden (offense) picked up his second award of the season while Hodges (defense) and Judie (special teams) were recognized for the first time.
Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State, QB, Jr, Edmond, Okla.
Brandon Weeden set school records in passing yards (435 yards) and single-game completions (34) in Oklahoma State's 55-28 win over No. 22 Baylor. He also set an OSU mark with his 229th completion of the season. Weeden's numbers for the day were 34-of-42 for 435 yards with three touchdowns. His scoring passes covered 5, 62 and 20 yards. For the season, Weeden has passed for 2,982 yards with 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He is completing 67.2 percent of his passes.
Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Hodges, Texas A&M, LB, Sr, Helotes, Texas
Michael Hodges posted a career-high 19 tackles, including eight solo and two sacks in Texas A&M's win over No. 9 Oklahoma. His two sacks went for a combined loss of 16 yards. It was the most tackles by an Aggie defender since All-American and current linebacker coach Dat Nguyen recorded 20 in the 1998 Cotton Bowl against UCLA. The A&M defensive unit came up with a goal line stand in the first quarter as Hodges and Von Miller combined to stop DeMarco Murray on fourth down from the one-yard line. In the fourth quarter, the Aggie defense came up with two more stops in the red zone with Hodges being credited with three tackles on second, third and fourth downs.
Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Coryell Judie, Texas A&M, KR/DB, Jr, Marlin, Texas
Coryell Judie's first career kickoff return went for a 100-yard touchdown against Oklahoma to open the second half. He took the place of Christine Michael who broke his leg last week on the return unit. Judie ended the night with three returns for 129 yards and one touchdown while also contributing an interception on defense.
