BATON ROUGE, La. (Sports Network) - Michael Ford and Stevan Ridley each scored twice on the ground as No. 9 LSU took down McNeese State, 32-10, in a non- conference tilt.
Ford had 10 carries for 86 yards while Ridley finished the game with 47 yards on 15 attempts for the Tigers (7-0), who were coming off last weekend's thrilling 33-29 win over Florida. Jarrett Lee went 9-for-14 for 75 yards while Russell Shepard had seven catches for 53 yards.
Cody Stroud went just 15-for-32 for 118 yards, one interception and one touchdown for the Cowboys (2-4), who have dropped their past two contests. Andre Anderson had 23 carries for 79 yards in the loss.
The Cowboys took the initial lead in the game when Stroud found Damion Dixon on a three-yard score with under 3 1/2 minutes to play in the first, but the Tigers responded on their ensuing drive as Ridley punched the ball into the end zone from two yards out to tie the game with under a minute to play in the opening quarter.
McNeese State took a 10-7 lead early in the second quarter on a 23-yard field goal from Josh Lewis.
LSU, though, moved 56 yards in eight plays on its next touch and Ridley's 10- yard run into the end zone gave the team a 14-10 lead with under 10 minutes to play in the half.
LSU was able to put two more points on the board on the Cowboys' next possession as Anderson was tackled in the end zone on a rush for a safety and a 16-10 lead.
The Tigers got a six-yard touchdown run from Ford with just over six minutes to play in the third quarter to cap a six-play, 53-yard drive. The extra point failed, though, and it was a 22-10 game.
A 31-yard field goal from Josh Jasper with 9 1/2 minutes to play in the game staked LSU to a 25-10 lead.
Ford's 36-yard run with just over a minute to play capped the scoring in the game.
