COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jordan Wynn (Utah), Reggie Rembert (Air Force) and Shaky Smithson (Utah) are the Mountain West Conference Players of the Week for games through Oct. 9. Wynn earns the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Rembert garners the Defensive Player award and Smithson receives Special Teams recognition. This marks the third career player of the week honor for Smithson, the second for Rembert and the first weekly accolade for Wynn.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JORDAN WYNN, UTAH

Jordan Wynn led Utah to its highest point total in 27 years in a 68-27 road win over Iowa State. In three quarters of play, the Oceanside, Calif., native completed 23-of-31 passes for 325 yards and two touchdowns. Midway through the first quarter, Wynn threw a two-yard touchdown to running back Eddie Wide to give the Utes a 10-7 lead. Utah held a 17-point advantage late in the second quarter when Wynn fired his second touchdown strike, connecting with wide receiver Shaky Smithson for a 61-yard score to put the Utes ahead, 38-14, with 1:34 left in the first half.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
REGGIE REMBERT, AIR FORCE

Reggie Rembert recorded a season-high seven tackles (four solo stops), an interception, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery in Air Force’s 49-27 win over Colorado State. With the Falcons holding a 14-0 advantage early in the second quarter, Rembert picked off Rams quarterback Pete Thomas and returned the ball 30 yards to the CSU 3-yard line. Later in the quarter, the Flower Mound, Texas, product recovered a Ram fumble at the CSU 33, leading to a Falcon touchdown two plays later.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SHAKY SMITHSON, UTAH

Shaky Smithson returned five punts for 145 yards in Utah’s 68-27 win at Iowa State. Smithson, who finished the contest with 261 all-purpose yards, averaged 29.0 yards per punt return. Midway through the first quarter, Smithson recorded the longest punt return of his career, scurrying 78 yards down to the Iowa State 2-yard line. Utah punched the ball into the end zone one play later to take a 10-7 lead. The Baltimore, Md., native also returned two kickoffs for 41 yards, recorded a 61-yard touchdown reception and threw a 32-yard touchdown pass against the Cyclones. Smithson ranks third in the country in punt returns, averaging 24.3 yards per return.
