Patriot League Announces Players of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - On the heels of their 34-3 victory over Georgetown on Saturday, three student-athletes from Colgate were selected as Patriot League Football Players of the Week on Monday.

Eachus carried 44 times for a season-high 214 yards and four touchdowns in the victory over the Hoyas, while Smith led the defensive effort with five tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles and Colborne connected on both of his field goal attempts and all four of his extra point tries. Wesley had the highest completion and attempt totals for a Bucknell quarterback since 2001 by going 25-of-45 for 267 yards in a 21-12 loss to Cornell.

Offensive Player of the Week
Nate Eachus, RB, Colgate Jr., 5-10, 216 (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area)

Eachus, who was also named to the Walter Payton Award watch list earlier in the day carried 44 times for a season-high 214 yards and four touchdowns in Colgate's 34-3 Patriot League win over Georgetown on Saturday. He also hauled in four receptions for 54 yards to total 268 all-purpose yards on the afternoon. He scored all four of his touchdowns from short yardage, putting Colgate up 10-3 late in the first half and adding three more scores to seal the win in the second half. He has rushed for at least 100 yards and scored at least one touchdown in every game this season, and leads the Football Championship Subdivision with 160 rushing yards per game for the year. He recorded his fifth 200-yard rushing day and has 2,491 yards and 33 touchdowns on the ground in his career. Eachus was named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time.

Defensive Player of the Week
Zach Smith, DE, Colgate Sr., 6-2, 226 (Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford)

Smith tallied five tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles to lead a stout Colgate defense in a 34-3 win over Georgetown on Saturday. Both of the fumbles were recovered by Colgate. He led a Raider defense that limited Georgetown to 113 total yards and just 37 on the ground. Smith earns his first Defensive Player of the Week award, and the first for a Colgate player since 2008.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Evan Colborne, K, Colgate So., 5-11, 180 (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough)

Colborne connected on both of his field goal attempts and all four of his extra point tries in Colgate's 34-3 win over Georgetown on Saturday. He opened the scoring with a field goal in the first quarter, and gave Colgate a 13-3 halftime lead with a season-long 34-yard boot as time expired. Colborne earns the second Special Teams Player of the Week award of his career.

Rookie of the Week
Brandon Wesley, QB, Bucknell Fr., 6-2, 178 (Plano, Texas/Plano East)

Wesley wins his third Rookie of the Week honor in four games played this season after his best passing effort to date in a 21-12 loss to Cornell on Saturday. He completed 25-of-45 passes for 267 yards, totaling the most pass completions and attempts by a Bucknell quarterback since 2001 and most yards since 2008. He also ran for 49 yards and his first career touchdown on the ground. Wesley has 652 passing yards on the season, and is already within 200 of the Bucknell freshman passing record.
