TITLE OF EVENT:

NCAA Football Youth Clinic

DESCRIPTION:

For the fourth consecutive year, the Valero Alamo Bowl has teamed up with NCAA Football to host a free youth clinic this Friday (July 20) from 2-5 p.m. in the Alamodome.  A coaching staff with more than 325 combined years of collegiate experience will run the clinic for 500 youth ages 5-14.

Head coaches Larry Coker (University of Texas-San Antonio), Steve Mohr (Trinity) and Danny Padron (Texas Lutheran) head the staff, which will include coaches from the University of the Incarnate Word, UTSA, Texas Lutheran, Trinity and Texas State.

The youth football clinic is part of NCAA Football’s youth initiative program to promote college football to those that dream of playing the game. Youth will participate in offensive, defensive/agility drills and tackling/blocking drills run by the university coaches.  In addition, Coker, Mohr and Padron will address participants about the fundamentals of being a good football player and great student-athlete, on the field and in the classroom.

The 500 youth signed up for the clinic is the second largest total among the 20 participating bowls nationwide and the most that have registered in the event’s four year history in San Antonio.
